Hello delegates, volunteers, advisors, and staff, and welcome to Sacramento!

For many of you, this is also a welcome back; whether it’s been one year or seven since you were last up in the capitol, expect nostalgia to wash over you. The bustle of K-Street as you decide where to go to lunch, the clatter of a thousand delegates leaving joint session, and of course, the gorgeous gardens and facade of our state capitol building all weave together in our memories, and every year adds more threads.

And for many others, this will be your first time joining us here. You may be nervous, excited, or overwhelmed with the expectations and stories told to you by advisors and senior delegates. Don’t worry too much; lean in to the energy and vibes, flow with the currents that sweep you up, and make sure to try something you’ve never done before.

This is a place for learning, and for growing. Sacramento has shaped many thousands of students and volunteers into activists, teachers, politicians, attorneys, authors; the list goes on, longer than we can recount. That is why we come back, year after year. Sacramento makes us better people, and it shows us a vision of a brighter future, one that we shape together.

So once again, welcome to the longest, and shortest, and perhaps the best weekend of your lives. At least, the best weekend of your lives so far. Let’s make the 76th MLC the most memorable one yet.
