This is an interview with Abigail is the Chief clerk of Forum 2024

How do you feel about being a Chief clerk?

I feel like it’s such an honorable position, because after you guys present the bills, I get to send them to the youth governor and possibly to the actual governor, it’s such a former action and I really value that.

What is the most fun part of being Chief clerk?

It’s not just the job itself, that alone gets me so many connections, so many opportunities to speak and hear all of your ideas, but also the bonding between everyone, for example having this interview I value that, and being with my co officers as well.

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment as Chief clerk?

Being able to be confident and  speak skills, writing skills, being out there and representing a lot of people, being the Chief clerk you is the nitty gritty  of everything, you get the typing done the notes done, publishing all of that. My biggest accomplishment is just getting out there.

Is there a tradition you would like to start for when you come to Sacramento?

Something I want to make a tradition is to have a bonding moment with my friends, like going out at night, and making memories.

What is something valuable you have  learned so far?

Something I have learned it patience, understanding, my attention span, just  being patient and resonating on words is something I have accomplished and something I’m proud of .

What is your favorite memory of Y&G?

The night walks at bob, it was so much fun, no pollution in the sky it was so gorgeous, seeing the stars.

If you had the opportunity to know about the future, would you?

I would say no, if I was able to know about my future it’s not going to be the same, because the actions I make now is going to affect my future so if I already know the possibilities that could happen it’s going to change and I would rather take fate take its course then me changing it.

Do you think you could survive a zombie apocalypse?

If it’s a life or death situation you best believe I will survive, I wouldn’t say I would be the last survivor but I would definitely survive for a long time. I would be a fake zombie, because then they wouldn’t know because they have no brain.

What is a fun fact a lot of people don’t know about you?

One thing about me is my culture, I am Ethiopian, its in East Africa, and it’s one of my proudest things to say because we were never colonized as an African country, and it’s the only country to never experience slavery in America and I’m really proud of that, and I’m proud of being apart of my culture so I definitely think this is one of my proudest things about me, my culture.

What do you love about yourself?

My passion for nature, a lot of people have that corporate life, and I personally want to go into law, and I don’t want that to be my whole life, because I would rather work to live then work to work, I’m going to work hard and become a lawyer, but I want to retire early and I’m going to  live my life.

What is one thing you will never understand?

How could someone hate another person ,it’s not about your skin color, it’s not about what you do for a living, I think hate itself is so strong, I understand there are so many people that experience different things, and unfortunately some of those are really hard, but I feel like it just does something to your soul, I think it’s just too much of a burden.

What is a weird thing or fact a lot of people don’t know about you?

I was about 5 years old and I had a guys friend and one time he taught me how to climb a tree, it was so random, now if someone asks me to climb a tree. I can!

What is your biggest motivation?

My family, we get into fights but that normal, thats healthy, and we still love each other, they are such good people and they are always pushing me to do my best, even though sometimes I don’t want to hear it, but I do appreciate it, sitting here for the interview, that motivates me, its so special, and being in y&g is such an honor that I have this opportunity and that motivates me.

What would you tell to the new Chief clerk for next year?

It’s a beautiful position you’re going to have so much fun, and it’s not about not having a high position it’s just enjoying the path that takes you on. I get to see the behind the scenes but not a lot of people know about that, like sending a pass to a governor that actually can go up to state not a lot of people know about that so I really want to advocate that.

After talking with Abigail, this interviewer has seen the importance of elected officials here in the forum. It’s a good thing to know more about our elected officials.
