The new bill created by the immigration committee, would the housing be free? Or would they still have to pay? Or is it free until they have enough to pay?

We all know immigrant’s coming from foreign countries, or Mexico, who are looking to go through the naturalization process in the United States of America have limited options for housing. The reason being is they are coming out of countries that are suffering from war or poverty. This means they have left behind most, if not everything, they have had ownership to. The United States is in a time where inflation has risen exponentially, to the point where people who aren’t as wealthy as some, can barely afford to feed their families, clothe their children, and struggle to keep a roof over their heads. Taking that into consideration, it would be very hard for immigrants to find any type of housing for themselves and their families since they’re most likely homeless.
But fear not, recently there has been a new bill created by the Forum Immigration Committee that will help house immigrants coming from Mexico or foreign countries. The bill consists of finding abandoned towns with low income rates, and renovating the towns to house immigrants in the process of naturalization.
The real question is how and who would be willing to fund and build the houses for this cause.
According to the immigration committee, all houses will be built by the CalHFA’s ADU Grant Program and will be equipped with modern safety codes, running water and electricity.
The funding will be from big name programs that are receiving error funds that are not being used. The bill will take 40 percent of the unused funds from these big programs and relocate it to fund this bill.
Something people may be wondering about is what conditions or requirements are needed to live in these housing units. The bill only has 2 requirements for the immigrants to live in these housing units for free. Proof that they are an immigrant in the process of naturalization, and proof of an income or job. These are the only requirements to live in the housing units.
If you are wondering how long these immigrants can stay at these houses. It is up to 3 years maximum, this will be enough time for the immigrants to be able to either obtain a green card, citizenship, or both. According to Immigrationhelp.org “It takes about two years for a green card to become available and three years total to get permanent resident status.” This shows that the bill allows plenty of time for immigrants to settle in the United States of America.
In conclusion, this bill will not only give immigrants a suitable place to live, but also the opportunity to have jobs in these towns. This bill will also allow the immigrants to live in these renovated town’s for free while also being able to become a permanent resident of the United States of America.
So as people who are fellow humans who live their lives comfortably with four walls and a roof over your head, I hope you can see how this bill will benefit the immigrants that aren’t in good living conditions and how this could forever impact their lives.
