I knew but so did you

I voted, and you noted

We need to be devoted not hopeless

The boldness we must show

Won’t rust but be discussed

Unjust occurring day after day

Can no longer stay

So stand up

This isn’t a wrap up

Snap if you must

Your words will be of power

So say them louder.

In every democratic society, voting stands as a foundation of civic engagement and collective decision-making. Yet, its significance often goes overlooked or underestimated. From local elections to national ones, the act of casting a vote holds profound implications for the direction of our communities, our nations, and ultimately, our world. As Youth and Government delegates, we strive to make a change in the world. A part of that is taking the initiative to make your voice heard via voting.

Voting is the most direct way for delegates to express their preferences and opinions regarding Y&G. It empowers delegates to have a say in the selection of leaders, the enactment of policies, and the allocation of resources. By participating in elections, delegates contribute to the collective voice of their community and ensure that their interests are represented.

Holding leaders accountable for what they promise is crucial in a democratic society. As youth, we have seen time and time again that many elected officials fail to deliver on their promises. We cannot be ignorant and allow this to continue if we want a better tomorrow. By voting, we ensure improvement within Youth and Government rather than allowing the program to continue having issues.

Voting is not merely a privilege but a safeguard of fundamental rights and freedoms. Historically, marginalized groups have fought tirelessly for the right to vote, recognizing its transformative potential in securing equal treatment and representation. By exercising their right to vote, citizens honor the struggles of past generations and uphold the principles of equality and justice for all members of society.

Every delegate possesses a unique perspective shaped by their experiences, values, and aspirations. Voting ensures that this diversity of perspectives is reflected in decision-making processes, enriching public discourse and fostering innovation. By participating in elections, delegates contribute to the creation of more inclusive and representative program, where the voices of all segments of backgrounds are heard and valued.

The outcomes of elections have far-reaching consequences that extend beyond the present moment. They shape the trajectory of our beloved program, determining the policies and priorities that will shape the lives of future delegates. By casting their votes, delegates actively participate in shaping the future they want to see, ensuring that it aligns with their values and aspirations.

It is a tangible expression of democracy in action, where every vote counts and every voice matters. As delegates, we must recognize the significance of our right to vote and actively engage in the electoral process to safeguard our freedoms, promote justice, and build a better program for all.
