The Day in the Life of a MLC Delegate in the 1st Appellate Court

It’s a cold day in Sacramento, California. Lucas Berwakes up after a restful night of sleep in his suite at 8. 9:30 AM is the first session of the day in 1st Appellate Court. “I feel well prepared to analyze this appeal” Lucas thinks as he makes his way to the Convention Center. 

His case is about a student defaming school property at a school event. The school is suing the student for selling banned literature inappropriate for a school setting. “You get to see the inner workings of a law, and how lawyers focus on certain details to persuade the opinion of the judge; essentially defending the case,” he states.

It’s 12 PM, and Lucas is hungry after a long session of researching certain 

details that can help with the party he is defending. He decides to fuel his hunger and critical thinking skills by going to Chipotle. Lucas goes to Chipotle with other fellow delegates. Lucas enjoys his lunch and goes back to his suite to relax to the new PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake album. “I believe MothBalls is the best song in the mix” argues Lucas as he believes the other songs just lack the flow that stands out to him. 

After the break, Lucas goes back for the second session of the day. “Honestly, I don’t like being cooped up in a room, analyzing a case for long, but I do like formal arguments against parties, with details given” he exclaims. He decides since he finished his research early, he’ll watch sports reels on Instagram. 

The day ends with him, enjoying his freetime with fellow candidates, cracking jokes and enjoying the accompaniment of close friends.
