This bill would require that paid maternity leave be made available by all Californian companies and that maternity leave cannot be a reason to fire an employee. If the employer wants to fire the woman after they come back from leave, their reason must be justified.  When a woman wants to take maternity leave she must have worked with the company/employer for 3 months (prior to maternity leave). While a woman is on maternity leave she will receive 70-90% of her usual pay. The maternity leave is to be started during the third trimester and will end after the woman gives birth for a total of 5 months off of work. Everywhere in California will abide by this bill and each company shall give the recipients paid maternity leave. The civil rights assembly cares about this bill because we believe every woman should have access to paid maternity leave and not worry about losing her job when she returns.
