Have you ever thought of how many students suffer with mental health issues but don’t get the help they need? Over 54% of students aged 12-17 years old don’t get the mental health treatment they need, and over 85% feel that they can’t speak out, or that they shouldn’t speak out. One of the biggest mental health issues that students currently face is test anxiety. Test anxiety takes a big place in a student’s mental health because they are being pressured into being the best of their class and getting high grades. This bill proposed by the K-12 Education Assembly Committee can help give assistance to those in need and struggle mentally. The bill helps train teachers to spot issues in students’ mental health and help students speak out and get the help they need.
